Chalet Asgard, a self-catered chalet, is tucked away in the tranquil Vallée de la Manche just outside Morzine. The scenic location, surrounded by trees and above the River Dranse which flows from the nearby nature reserve, is delightful in both winter and summer months. The views across the valley to the mountains opposite can be enjoyed from the numerous balconies and large windows.
The chalet is spread across four floors and can accommodate 12-16 guests in six bedrooms. The interior combines natural elements such as reclaimed wood and plush textiles as well as large picture windows. The entrance to the chalet is on the ground floor where there is also garage parking for 3 vehicles. Here you will also find the ski room in winter, or bike storage if visiting in summer, along with the sauna, and a conveniently located toilet.
Taking the stairs up to the second floor and you step into the open plan living and dining area, as well as the state-of-the-art kitchen. This floor is flooded with natural light thanks to expansive glass windows and high ceilings and is decorated with contemporary furniture and lighting. The suspended wood burning stove is a modern take on the traditional fireplace and adds a cosy warmth to the sitting area.
The bedrooms are spread throughout the chalet, but the first floor is where the main sleeping quarters are arranged. Here are three double bedrooms all with balcony access and en-suite facilities, as well as a family room with 2 single beds and bunk beds sleeping 4 additional guests. The family room has access to a separate family bathroom on the same floor.
On the second floor is a further double bedroom with en-suite, whilst on the top mezzanine floor the master en-suite bedroom is tucked away in privacy. This bedroom is accessed via a staircase leading up from the living area and has direct access to the private decking area and hot tub. All the bedrooms are equipped with a TV, ensuring you can unwind in your own space when preferred.
The outdoor hot tub is surrounded by pine trees and the perfect spot for private après ski relaxation and stargazing under the clear alpine skies.
To access the ski slopes you have a choice of different starting points depending on where you wish to ski each day. The nearest ski lift is the Téléphérique de Nyon, and this cable car is just a couple of minutes’ drive or a 10-minute walk away. This lift provides access onto the ski slopes of the Morzine–Les Gets area which has a wonderful network of treelined ski slopes.
Alternatively, if you wish to start your day from the resort centre or require ski school, the Pléney gondola, home to the resorts ski school meeting points, and the Super Morzine cable car can both be reached with an approximate 5-minute drive. If you prefer to head directly to the higher altitude ski slopes of Avoriaz, it is a 10-minute drive to the Prodains cable car which takes you to an altitude of 1,736m, after which you can head higher.
Morzine is one of the best year-round Alpine destinations and offers a huge array of bars, restaurants, shops and leisure amenities. For any groups with non-skiers, or those not looking to ski hard every day, the town centre is a great spot for a wander with some retail therapy and plenty of spots to stop for a coffee along the way. The resort centre is a 5-minute drive from the chalet.
Chalet Asgard is available to rent on a self-catered basis. It is possible to add access to an in-resort driver service with an additional charge. On request, a catered package can also be arranged.
