Châtel Luxury Ski Chalets

Charming and distinctively French, Châtel has extensive slopes and quick links into the Portes du Soleil.

Châtel has a wonderful authentic French ambiance that envelopes and enchants you as soon as you arrive. This beautiful and lively resort, sitting on a sunny and south facing slope and close to the Swiss border, is part of the extensive Portes du Soleil ski area. The total area boasts 650km of ski runs with around two hundred ski lifts! Nestled between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, the Portes du Soleil also benefits from exceptional snowfall and scenery and the chance to ski 2 different countries in 1 day.

Châtel is nestled between two sectors of the main Portes du Soleil ski circuit, each offering a wonderful mix of open and tree lined slopes. Directly above the resort is Super- Châtel, the perfect place to warm up those ski legs on the easy and open pistes. From here you can also start a clockwise journey around the Portes du Soleil by heading to the Swiss resort of Morgins. Alternatively, head North to the slopes above Torgon which provides fabulous views over Lake Geneva.

From 2016, you will now be able to ski down on a new piste to Vonnes and take the new quad lift over to the Linga sector. From here you can start and anticlockwise tour of the Portes du Soleil and this area, which is mainly north facing, often has the best local snow conditions. Linga also provides quick access over to Avoriaz, which has the highest altitude slopes in the whole ski domain.

Looking at the Châtel ski area alone, there are 130km of pistes to explore and is served by over 40 ski lifts and a skiing vertical of 1,000m. Add in some lovely mountain restaurants, lively après ski, skiing in 2 countries and Châtel ticks many boxes and delivers an excellent all round ski holiday adventure.

Awarded with the ‘Famille Plus’ badge for its family-friendly atmosphere and activities on offer, Châtel also boasts good beginner areas and the lift system and many pistes with gentle gradients allow skiers to progress quickly. For families and groups where you have mixed skiing abilities, it is one the best destinations in the Alps.

For those who have been skiing and snowboarding many times, there are endless possibilities. With over 600km of pistes, fabulous and varied terrain, including many tree-lined runs, the endless choices will keep you smiling all day and awaiting the next eagerly. Some of the best terrain parks in France are here, with the Smoothpark’s rails, kickers, slide boxes, hips and boarder cross awaiting the new freestylers from beginner to pro.
