Les 2 Alpes Luxury Ski Chalets
High-altitude glacier skiing and a long ski season make Les 2 Alpes a winter paradise for keen skiers.
Les 2 Alpes is a leading ski resort in the Isère department, situated at the heart of the Ecrins massif in the Oisans region. With the resort sitting at 1,650m and the ski area reaching the glacial heights of 3,600m, along with 75% of the ski area above 2,000m, it is easy to see why Les 2 Alpes is so popular with enthusiastic skiers and snowboarders.
The ski area offers 220km of slopes across 420 hectares. A wide variety of pistes, a snowpark and exceptional mountain panoramas invite you to enjoy the very best of the Alps. The area delivers a vertical drop of 2,300m, from the top of the glacier at Lauze 3600 to the village of Mont de Lans at 1,300m. The entire descent can be skied in one long run without using a ski lift!
The ski domain offers 96 pistes, including 14 black, 17 red, 47 blue and 18 green runs. Around 300 snowmakers provide 86 hectares of artificial snow, which, combined with the high altitude, makes Les 2 Alpes one of the most snow-sure ski resorts in the Alps. The ski area is divided into seven distinct sectors, each with its own character, ensuring mixed groups have plenty of terrain to suit different skiing abilities and preferences.
Les 2 Alpes has several dedicated beginner areas at resort level, along with green slopes accessible at 2,100m and 2,400m. This ensures those new to skiing can experience the delights of high-altitude skiing while enjoying spectacular mountain views. The Belle Etoile sector at 2,100m provides an opportunity to build confidence on blue runs, accessible directly from the village centre via a choice of chairlifts.
For those who love to ski in the sunshine in the mornings, the Vallée Blanche sector, easily accessible from resort level, is a quieter area with beautiful, unspoilt views across the resort. A choice of green and blue runs, together with a red piste, offers ideal terrain for different levels to get their legs moving. The sector is also accessible to pedestrians via a snowshoe route and offers the magical experience of night skiing under the stars.
Heading higher, the Diable sector at 2,400m delivers red and black runs for more advanced skiers. Locally known as the “big slopes”, this is where you can head straight down through the fir trees. At La Fée 2100, Jandri 2600 and Toura 2900, a great network of blue and red slopes, together with a freeride zone and snowpark, provides a huge amount of skiing in a beautiful, wild landscape with stunning views.
At the top of the ski area, one of the highest ski sectors in Europe, the glacier can be reached in just 17 minutes thanks to the Jandri lift. The highest sector of Les 2 Alpes’ ski area starts at the summit at 3,600m and descends to 3,200m. The runs are suitable for all levels of skier and, when weather conditions are at their most wintry, you can even opt for the funicular and stay warm.
This high-altitude sector delivers breathtaking 360-degree views, which can be admired from three orientation tables: one at 3,400m and two at 3,200m. The sector is also accessible to pedestrians, with a warm welcome at the Le 3200 restaurant, as well as an ice cave to visit and explore. The Belvédère des Ecrins skywalk, at 3,400m, is an unforgettable experience and the perfect spot for a memorable mountain selfie.
The ski lifts provide access to all the slopeside restaurants in Les 2 Alpes, so you can enjoy a break with family or friends over a tasty meal, a morning hot chocolate or an afternoon snack. Six mountain restaurants are also accessible to pedestrians using the lift network, providing a great way for non-skiers to meet up with the rest of their group on the mountain and enjoy lunch together against a dramatic alpine backdrop.
Les 2 Alpes is so much more than a ski resort, with a wealth of alpine adventures and activities to discover during your mountain holiday. E-mountain biking, tobogganing and trail running on snow let you stay connected to the mountains we love while experiencing them in a new way. For a more relaxing adventure, snowshoeing and winter walking, with the aid of the lift system to reach higher into the mountains, allow you to enjoy your own space and breathe in the fresh alpine air.
The aquatic centre, ideally located in the centre of the resort, is the perfect place to unwind after a day on the slopes. In winter, there is a 25m x 12m pool with a depth of 1.30m, lanes for training, a fun water jet, a counter-current swimming system, a Jacuzzi integrated into the pool and a massage bench. In the evenings, and beneath falling snow, the ice rink is a fun place to visit, whether you can glide with grace or are simply looking to have fun with friends and stay upright.
Les 2 Alpes is a lively mountain resort with plenty of entertainment, events and shows throughout the winter season. The Avenue de la Muzelle and surrounding streets are bustling with shops and numerous restaurants offering a wealth of different flavours. Around 20 bars and pubs ensure a lively après-ski scene, with the party continuing late into the night.
The resort is well connected to international airports, with Grenoble being the closest at 110km and around 1 hour 45 minutes away by car. Lyon, Chambéry and Geneva can also be used when arriving by plane, while Grenoble’s TGV high-speed railway station is just 70km from Les 2 Alpes. During the ski season, eight free shuttle routes operate every day, providing transport throughout Les 2 Alpes, as well as to and from the ski slopes.
Les 2 Alpes is one of the few true four-season alpine resorts, where you can indulge your passion for the natural mountain environment all year round. In winter, the resort buzzes with skiers, snowboarders and mountain lovers who come to enjoy the high-altitude slopes, lively resort and après-ski scene, as well as the wide variety of mountain activities.
