Horu Lodge is a modern townhouse in the exclusive Swiss ski resort of Zermatt. Horu is arranged over three floors all connected by both stairs and an elevator. Sleeping 8 guests in four en-suite bedrooms the property is a great option for group and extended family get togethers. The lodge is in one of two chalets that form a residence of 4 lodges and 2 suites.
The open plan living areas are spread across the top floor. The lounge has an open fire, TV, surround sound and is a lovely space in which to relax and spend time with friends. The kitchen is fully fitted with all the equipment needed for home cooking, whilst the adjacent Carl Hansen dining table can comfortably seat 12. Outside, a south facing balcony offers a stunning view of the Matterhorn and surrounding mountains.
The four beautifully styled bedrooms can all be arranged with either a king-size or twin beds, giving maximum flexibility for different family or group configurations. There are two bedrooms on the first floor and a further two bedrooms on the second floor.
All guests staying in the residence have access to a communal wellness area on the lowest level of the building. Once you have returned from your day exploring the mountains, splash around in the swimming pool with swim jet, soothe tired muscles in the sauna or steam room, or head outside and sink into the hot tub. Treatments can be booked for the dedicated massage room, and a small fitness room is also available if you still have energy to burn.
The residence also features a reception area, a workspace that can be booked for private use, along with a cosy lobby with fire feature and relaxation area. For your mountain equipment there is access to a ski room with ski lockers and boot warmers.
The lodge offers a convenient location to access the ski slopes with the Klein Matterhorn Express gondola only 100m away. This lift gives access to Furi at 1,867m where you have a choice of 3 onward ski lifts. You can head up to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, at 3,882m the highest point of Zermatt’s ski area, and where you can choose to ski on either the Swiss or Italian side of the ski area above Cervinia.
From the top of the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, cable cars continue as part of the Matterhorn Alpine Crossing which creates a pedestrian link from Zermatt to Cervinia in Italy. Alternatively, you can change direction at Furi and take a different gondola which connects you into the Gornergrat area of ski slopes of the Matterhorn Ski Paradise.
Below the Horu Lodge is the El Alamein Suite and Gerwetsch Suite, whilst adjacent is the Tete Blanche Lodge. If you require additional bedrooms all can be booked independently or in conjunction with each other, and all are linked with access through the elevator or by stairs. The building on the other side of the lobby has 2 more lodges, Dufourspitz Lodge sleeping 10 and Lyskamm Lodge sleeping 9.
Horu Lodge is available to rent on a self-catered basis and includes concierge services, along with pre-arrival fridge fills and a daily bread and pastry delivery service (shopping costs additional).
