Heritage Carrel is a luxury chalet located in the village of Pessey in Valtournenche. A historic mansion dating back to the 1800s, it now combines contemporary design and Alpine authenticity. Surrounded by meadows and forests, the setting provides complete harmony with nature. In the winter the privileged setting is only 250m from the red Reine Blanche piste of the renowned Matterhorn Ski Paradise area of Cervinia and Zermatt.
The chalet is arranged over four floors and 290m2 of floor area and can sleep up to six guests and 3 en-suite bedrooms. Outside, the original stone façade is complemented by a new slate roof, but once you step inside everything changes. Contemporary design, modern facilities and designer furniture create a chalet within a chalet where old meets new. Together, the chalet connects tradition and heritage with modern day comfort and luxury.
The open plan living areas are arranged across the second floor designed to bring together comfort and style. The concealed kitchen blends perfectly into the design, offering a touch of elegance and functionality for relaxed dining. The heart of the room is the living area, embellished with a designer fireplace and sofas by Moroso that create a cosy and relaxing ambiance. From here you can step out onto the terrace and into the garden.
One level down and this floor is dedicated to the 50m2 master suite. The sleeping area offers you a large double bed and a spacious walk-in wardrobe, whilst the en-suite is equipped with a chromotherapy shower. This bedroom also provides direct access into the garden.
On the top floor are two further 20m2 bedrooms, both offering views out onto the mountain landscape. The first room can be arranged with either a double or two single beds and has an in-room bathtub, plus private toilet just outside on the landing. The second room has a double bed as well as an en-suite shower and toilet.
The lowest floor of the chalet is a multifunctional space combining comfort and entertainment. An extensive video and music room with 82-inch Sony Oled TV and high-quality sound system guarantees an immersive entertainment experience. In the Technogym fitness zone, there is also a chromotherapy shower. In addition to the garage with charging station, there is also storage for your skiing, snowboarding and biking equipment.
Surrounding the chalet is a beautifully landscaped garden with terrace decked out with outdoor furniture. This is the space to head post skiing as you can refresh yourself in the freestanding and striking Finish sauna. Afterwards, slide into the sunken outdoor hot tub and simply take in the majestic panorama or after the sun has set, gaze at the starry sky.
The authentic and quiet village of Pessey is located above the resort town Valtournenche and enjoys a setting surrounded by nature and panoramic views. It is an ideal destination for those seeking a peaceful and relaxing mountain setting, yet with access to one of the world’s finest ski areas that links together Italy and Switzerland.
The red Reine Blanche piste is only 250m from the chalet and from here you can ski down to the Valtournenche-Salette gondola. For any beginner skiers, taxi’s can be pre-booked to access this gondola with an 8-minute drive. At the top of the Valtournenche-Salette gondola is a dedicated beginner area and a network of blue slopes on which to progress.
The ski slopes at the top of the gondola also connect you into the 2 famous resorts of Breuil-Cervinia in Italy, and over to Zermatt in Switzerland. This huge ski area offers over 300km of high-altitude slopes as well as an abundance of some of the finest mountain restaurants in the world.
The centre of Valtournenche is a 7-minute drive away where there is a good selection of bars, restaurants, small supermarkets and ski shops, along with a sports centre with swimming pool. Cervinia, the most famous of the ski resorts of the Aosta Valley is a 20-minute drive up the valley.
Chalet Heritage Carrel is available to rent on a catered chalet basis. Dinners are prepared by the in-house chalet team and feature simple and wholesome dishes from Italian cuisine and include three courses, with appetizer, main course and dessert.
It is also possible to organise a gourmet four-course dinner curated by a renowned local chef with an additional cost. Short stays are also available on off-peak weeks, as well as a bed & breakfast option.
Please note wines, alcoholic and soft beverages are not included and are with an additional charge. If bringing your own wine to the chalet, there is a corkage fee payable. Please Note: The kitchen is not available for client use.
The neighbouring gourmet restaurant, Foyer des Guide, is also only a few minutes’ walk away.
