La Maison is a stunning catered chalet located right in the middle of the village square in Montriond, a few minutes’ drive from the ski resort of Morzine. This stunningly restored property, originally designed by an Italian architect during the reign of Louis XV, is a unique home from which to enjoy a winter holiday. The restoration project began in the summer of 2017 and is now available to rent from the 2020/21 winter ski season.
The chalet is arranged over three floors and an expansive 780m2 of living space. Inside the original timbers have been retained wherever possible with local artisans seamlessly incorporating them into the new structure. Whilst outside, the facade has also been restored to be in harmony with its 18 century roots. The property sleeps up to 12 guests in 6 en-suite bedrooms.
The top floor is dominated by the impressive living spaces with a main sitting room, library and bar area. At the centre of this space are several expansive sofas centred on two coffee tables and which are perfectly positioned to take full benefit of the beautiful views of the Nantaux mountain peak. The volume of this living area will surely impress along with the beautiful vaulted ceilings.
At either side of the top floor there are two separate fireplaces. Set around these fires are a library with comfy seating and also a swing! and on the other side a bar with relaxed seating area and pool table. Two wide balconies provide the perfect spot to enjoy the views over the village square. The top floor is completed with two twin/double bedrooms featuring freestanding bathtubs and en-suite showers.
Heading down one floor and you enter into the heart of the chalet and where you will be wined and dined throughout your stay. A baby grand piano sits between the floating wine cave and the main dining room. This is a sumptuous space from which to fuel up each morning before heading out to ski and to enjoy private dinner parties in the evenings.
The kitchen is split in two with a concealed professional space and a beautiful front kitchen that is a magical theatre from which your chef can prepare stunning meals. There are a further two en-suite king-size double bedrooms on this floor separated by a private lounge area. Stepping outside and we discover some of the extensive private spa facilities with an outdoor hot tub and barrel sauna.
The ground floor is home to an impressive L shaped swimming pool decked out with a counter current jet, various massage zones and two large fountains. There is a further indoor hot tub, steam room and relaxation area with loungers set beneath a fibre optic “night sky”. From this spa area head upstairs to a raised studio which is the perfect spot for some yoga or pilates as well as a dedicated massage room.
The chalet’s remaining two bedrooms are located on the ground floor and can be arranged with double or twin beds and both feature en-suite shower rooms. There is also a separate cosy TV snug with fireplace to curl up with a movie and a very comfortably and large ski and boot room.
The village of Montriond has a handful of shops as well as two bars and a restaurant. The centre of Morzine with its extensive selection of shops and restaurants is easily accessed with your in-resort chauffeur service.
Skiing is most easily accessed by the Ardent lift which is just a 10 minute drive away and grants access straight into the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area. Alternately and slightly quicker head to the Super Morzine or Pleney lifts which leave from the centre of Morzine.
For larger groups, La Maison can be rented in conjunction with an Owners Residence, to create the Grande Maison, sleeping 16-20 guests.
La Maison is available to rent on a Catered Chalet basis.
