The beautiful Chalet Himalaya, located in the exclusive hamlet of Les Etroits, provides a sumptuous ski in ski out retreat in Val d’Isere. A landmark property dating from the 17th century, this former monastery has been thoughtfully renovated to cater for the perfect ski holiday.
The mix of original features such as the large fireplace and the impressive stone window seats have been blended with state of the art facilities and ornamental features and touches, inspired by the Far East. The marrying of dark woods, marble, stone, fur and antiques create a sumptuous atmosphere.
The swimming pool is truly special, with a ‘James Bond’ feature! The hidden red marble pools with sophisticated underwater lighting are revealed by a secret moving floor device. Pool depth can be adjusted to suit guest’s requirements, making it ideal for children and the water temperature is maintained at 33 degrees centigrade.
With the swimming pool half indoors and half outdoors, the chalet offers true ‘swimming under the stars’ as well as a wave machine and Jacuzzi facility in the outdoor section of the pool. The pool is available for use at any time indoors and outdoors only up to midnight. For further relaxation, unwind in the sauna made from authentic imported Siberian pine.
The living room is a sumptuous fur-filled space set around a roaring fire for guests to relax with a glass of chilled champagne, traditional mulled wine or any number of cocktails from the classic to the exotic.
There is a movie screen, which appears at the touch of a button as well as a custom designed glass and marble cigar room complete with humidifier, extractor and soft leather sofas.
The chalet sleeps up to 8 guests and all bedroom suites have separate sleeping and relaxation areas. The marble walls of the bath are adorned with delicately engraved snowflakes, while the floor of each bath is subtly heated. The bath is of impressive proportions, each commands a rain shower and converts into a steam room, easily seating up to 4 or more persons, with remote-controlled lights.
Chalet Himalaya enjoys an unbeatable location within private walls and benefits from the morning winter sun and direct access to the slopes, allowing safe and easy skiing from and to the chalet. It has never been easier to quickly access the excellent piste and off-piste skiing of Val d’Isère and the Espace Killy domain. Shoppers are pampered by a choice of chauffeured transport or by a personal walking guide for the riverside forest route to and from shops.
It is possible to accommodate an additional 2 guests to increase the occupancy to 10 guests. For larger groups, the chalet can be combined with Chalet Toit du Monde creating the Domaine Toit du Monde bringing occupancy up to 16 guests, with double the facilities.
