As one of the most snow sure ski resorts in the Alps, Obergurgl has some of the most loyal clients who return season after season. With a traditional Austrian, or to be more precise, local Tirolean atmosphere and a chalet style village its high altitude charms are easy to enjoy. The lift system is fast, modern and efficient and the lack of lift queues and empty slopes is a skier and snowboarders delight.
With excellent beginner areas, as well as slopes for timid intermediates to progress to, this is an excellent resort for families. The skiing is divided into 2 main sectors, Obergurgl and the even higher Hochgurgl, which are linked together by a high-speed gondola lift.
The skiing generally suits beginners and intermediates, with fewer challenges for experts, though there are some unpisted ski routes and plenty of off-piste opportunities.
There are 12 mountain restaurants to choose from, with stunning and expansive glacial views whilst dining at over 3,000m above sea level! Après ski can get lively, with the mid mountain Nederhütte the place to be, leaving the brave to ski down to resort afterwards, or to ride own by snowmobile.
