Schipfa is a free-standing self-catered ski chalet in Zermatt. This quintessential Swiss chalet features wooden ceilings and extensive wood panelling on all the walls. Numerous windows fill the interior with light and sunshine and the chalet exudes a cosy ambiance. Centrally located, the property has an elevated setting perched on a hill and overlooking the main street and church. Chalet Schipfa is a great choice for those after an authentic ski chalet with stunning views.
Due to its elevated position it is accessed by a relatively steep path. From the main street it’s a climb of 24 vertical metres with a distance of 290m. There is no lift access, however the nearest taxi drop-off point is next to the English Church which reduces the climb to 15 vertical metres. This is why we recommend this chalet for guests who are sporty and fit, it is not suitable for the elderly or toddlers. Rental skis and boots can be stored at a shop on the main street, or at the bases of the lift stations.
Arranged over two floors and 195m2 of living space, the chalet sleeps 8 guests with 4 bedrooms and three bathrooms. Entering the chalet on the upper floor there is a very spacious living room with fireplace and vaulted ceilings. This space leads onto a generous kitchen and further to the dining room. There are also two terraces, one a great suntrap overlooking Zermatt, the other facing the Matterhorn with table and chairs.
The first bedroom is located on the upper floor and is a double room with a separate bathroom with W/C and shower. A staircase takes you to the lower level where the three remaining bedrooms are arranged. There is a spacious master bedroom, twin room and a final double bedroom, all of which access the wide lower terrace overlooking the village. There are two bathrooms, one with a bathtub, shower and W/C; the other with a shower, W/C and washing machine. There is also a sauna located on this floor.
