Chalet Hibou is situated in a small and traditional French Alpine village offering guests a real taste of the local culture, as well as privacy. Chalet Hibou is just a few miles from the Italian border making it a great destination for heli-skiing and hopping over the border for a different cultural experience.
Nestled between classic Savoyard farming buildings, Chalet Hibou sits at the top of a historic farming village high up in the Tarentaise Valley right next door to her smaller sister property, Chalet Pelerin. Chalet Hibou offers easy accessibility to incredible ski terrain – Sainte Foy, Val d’Isère, Tignes, Les Arcs and La Rosière, are all located within a 30 minute drive.
Why stay at one resort when you can ski seven? Chalet Hibou puts guests within easy reach of seven world-class ski resorts. Ski a different resort every day, with lift tickets and transportation included in your stay. The chalet’s proximity to the Italian border provides guests access to three heli-ski bases, with runs averaging 1,000 to 2,200 vertical meters.
The chalet’s setting, tucked away in the mountain hamlet of Le Miroir, also allows guests to ski off-piste runs straight to the chalet door.
After a powder day, recharge with a steam and sauna or relax by the fire in the living room. Then let your chef introduce you to regional specialties like raclette and fondue.
Great food is engrained in French culture so it should be no surprise that meals are a highlight at Chalet Hibou. A local dairy farmer delivers yogurt to the chalet door each morning to accompany a hearty breakfast spread of muesli, house-made bread, and made-to-order eggs.
Fine French cheeses and garden-fresh salads are served for lunch, even in the backcountry. At night, the chef’s menus showcase Savoyarde dishes like pumpkin velouté with the region’s famed Beaufort cheese and Côte de Bouef. French wines also take centre stage, with nightly menu pairings.
A stay at Chalet Hibou is not complete without a visit to the special outpost called the Alpage. Originally a historic farmhouse, the Alpage is now renovated and makes for a memorable place to enjoy an evening bonfire and traditional French dinner any time of year.
