Chalet Black Wood is tucked away in a charming ‘hameau’ that offers privacy and serenity. Located in the desirable Les Bois area of the Chamonix valley, the Flegere gondola is only a 3-minute drive away. The chalet has a very appealing timber and stone exterior that exudes alpine charm and makes for a prefect retreat in the mountains.
The chalet is spread across three floors and 130m2 of floor area. Entering the chalet on the ground floor there is an entrance lobby that gives way to the main sleeping quarters. The chalet sleeps 6-8 guests in three bedrooms. The first bedroom has a double bed and en-suite bathroom. Bedroom two is a further double and the third bedroom a quad bunk room, and these two bedrooms share a separate shower room and toilet.
Taking the stairs upstairs and you arrive at the fabulous open plan living area with beautiful, vaulted roof. This social space combines lounge, dining, and kitchen, with a stylish gas burning fire adding to the ambiance on winter evenings. A south-facing balcony runs the width of the chalet and offers views over the garden and mountains.
On the lower ground floor, the chalet features a double garage with ski storage, ski boot heaters and plenty of seating. As Chamonix is an all-year-round playground for mountain activities, there is storage for all your mountain gear from boots to bikes.
The garden offers a great space to enjoy in both winter and summer, as well as being home to the “Mazot” with sauna, shower, and hot tub. These spa facilities offer the perfect way to unwind after a day in the mountains.
To maximise your time in resort it is advantageous to have a car, though the resort does offer a comprehensive bus and train service. The nearest bus stop (Les Bois) is 450m from the chalet. For grocery shopping there is a large supermarket a 4.5km drive away, and the bustling centre of Chamonix is the same distance from the chalet.
A year-round town, Chamonix offers a huge selection of bars, cafes, restaurants, and nightlife to savour. If you need to buy any new mountain equipment or clothing, there are an abundance of shops to choose between.
Chamonix makes a great destination for any groups with non-skiers as there are many activities to enjoy where you don’t have to attach skis to your feet! There is also access to beautiful mountain trails from the foot of the garden.
The Flegere / Brevent ski slopes are the nearest of Chamonix’s four separate ski area, with the Flegere lift just 1.3km away. For those learning to ski, the 2 dedicated nursery areas of Savoy and Planards are a 4km and 4.5km drive from the chalet.
The other ski areas of the Chamonix valley include Grands Montets, 4.2km away, and is a real adventure playground for strong skiers and snowboarders. At either end of the valley are Les Houches and Le Tour, and these areas offer a more varied network of slopes for all levels.
