Grimentz Luxury Ski Chalets
Grimentz is one of the most beautiful ski resorts in Switzerland. Tucked away deep in the Swiss Alps, it epitomizes the charm of an authentic alpine village. Surrounded by towering peaks over 4,000m, the picture postcard village sits at an altitude of 1,564m in the Val d’Annivers valley. In the winter, the resort is a popular destination for winter sports devotees or to simply relax and holiday in a beautiful mountain environment.
The Val d’Anniviers is an Alpine valley home to numerous villages including the ski resorts of Grimentz, Zinal, St-Luc, Chandolin, and Vercorin. Three separate ski areas – Grimentz-Zinal, St-Luc/Chandolin, and Verorcin – offer a total of 210km of pistes. The three areas are connected by road and can be accessed either by car or the ski bus in the winter season.
The local Grimentz ski area is linked to Zinal via a cable car and is the largest ski area in the valley offering 115km of pistes. The area has slopes of all difficulty levels and most runs are situated above the treeline in expansive high alpine terrain. The pistes leading back to the villages of Grimentz and Zinal descend through forest glades. It is also possible to ski from the Zinal area to Grimentz on a black piste.
The scenery is simply spectacular and from the slopes you can enjoy panoramic views of Switzerland’s highest mountains. The area is also popular with off-piste skiers and snowboarder with a huge amount of freeride terrain to explore above the treeline. Due to the altitude and slopes stretching up to 2,900m, the ski season usually runs from early December to late April.
For young children new to skiing, there is a dedicated snow garden located on the Grimentz slopes where youngsters can discover their first gliding sensations at their own pace and in a safe area close to all amenities.
Above Grimentz, a network of blue, red and black pistes let’s all abilities progress and explore at their own pace and can then all conveniently meet at the Bendolla restaurant at 2,130m, located at the top of the main resort gondola.
Away from skiing, you can still enjoy the snow and mountains in other ways. Fans of a long toboggan run are in luck with an 8km descent possible from 2,436m to 1,570m. The Grand Plans – Bendolla – Grimentz toboggan trail will delight young and old thrill-seekers alike with its twist and turns and wonderful mountain scenery.
For those looking for a more sedate way to explore the snowy mountains, a network of winter walking and snow-shoe trails criss-cross the mountains. A pedestrian lift pass is also available to access specific ski lifts in the valley. Starting in Zinal, there are two blue and one red cross-country ski trails totalling 13km in length. Grimentz also features a natural ice rink that is illuminated in the evenings.
The resort has all the amenities needed for your holiday including a couple of supermarkets, bakeries, and a butcher for all your self-catering provisions. There are several ski shops dotted throughout the village, as well as a couple of shops for souvenirs. Along with 7 mountain restaurants on the slopes of the Grimentz-Zinal ski area, for evenings out, there are over 15 restaurants and bars.
