Chalet Castor is one of our three unique and very rare Zermatt residences, along with Chalet Gemini and Chalet Pollux. A luxurious freestanding three storey independent chalet with 4 bedrooms, it is large enough for groups or families of eight. All the beds can be configured as doubles or twins, affording flexibility for each group.
Its location provides the best of both worlds: spectacular views and easy access. Side by side, tucked against a beautiful hillside, the numerous balconies and large terraces give you bird’s eye views of the village and the surrounding mountains, encompassing all three of Zermatt’s ski areas.
Resort access is easy and only 200m from the Matterhorn Express base lift station and resort centre. From street level there is a tunnel which leads you to a lift (elevator) built inside the mountain, from the top of which there is a gentle 2 minute walk to the property. Skis and boots can be left in the tunnel’s ski-room.
Although it does not have a Matterhorn view, the chalet is bathed in sun as soon as it emerges. Chalet Pollux is immediately adjacent to Chalet Castor, which is its mirror image and also sleeps 8. The chalet has been tastefully decorated and delicately combines an alpine, cosy and contemporary finish, with liberal use of wood and stone.
The chalet enjoys the use of its own unique private outdoor hot tub surrounded by snow in the winter, and is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the view or the stars after a long day in the mountains. It has all the latest technology with flat-screen TVs, more than a hundred satellite channels, a fireplace and geothermal heating to reduce the chalet’s carbon footprint as much as possible.
On the ground floor the chalet features an entrance hallway that opens onto a living room with a wood fire, satellite TV/DVD and music system and a dining area with open plan modern kitchen. The ground floor has access to the terrace and hot tub. A spiral staircase leads to the first floor, which features 2 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.
The second floor has traditional chalet-style sloping wood ceilings and features one bedroom with en-suite bathroom and the final bedroom with en-suite shower room. Each bedroom has its own TV (satellite/DVD) and stunning mountain views and three of the bedrooms feature their own balcony.
Chalet Castor is available to rent on a catered chalet, self-catered and bed & breakfast basis.
