Deplar Farm

Luxury Chalet in Tröllaskagi, Iceland
24 Catered

Given Iceland’s astronomical tourism boom, Deplar is perfectly positioned as the island’s top property. Located on the Troll Peninsula, this modern lodge is a nod to the local landscape and Icelandic architecture. Here adventure is right on your doorstep. Watch the Northern Lights from an outdoor, geothermal infinity pool after a day of summit-to-sea heli-skiing, ski touring, or snowmobiling.

Tackling untracked descents on Iceland’s Arctic maritime snowpack is for both the hard charger and the smooth cruiser. Sea-to-summit has never looked this good. Think vast valleys that scream for first tracks. Massages back at Deplar are a must, as you’ll want to push your ski legs to max output the next day. If the weather turns and it starts dumping, during no-fly weather days you just go cat skiing or hot spring hopping.

Strategically located between Europe and the States, Iceland and Deplar offer easy access to otherworldly landscapes without hours of traveling. New York and London-based clients can be fishing or skiing on the same day of travel. The only question here is, “What’s your call to action?”

Deplar is a converted sheep farm, situated in the remote Fljot valley in the mountainous Troll Peninsula in northern Iceland. Today’s modern structure celebrates a rugged past, and honours authentic Icelandic architecture with 13 en-suite bedrooms.

It’s a one-stop-shop for adventure, solitude, mystery, and high-end amenities. The Fljot valley sees some of the highest average snowfall on the planet. As a result, the eastern route to Deplar is closed all winter, making its remote locale all the more raw and wild.

Deplar Farm might just be the most beautiful luxury lodge in the World and is made for lounging. Every room brings the outdoors in—floor-to-ceiling windows frame the mountains and often showcase lines from guests’ hard-earned heli-ski turns. Think stone sourced from local rivers, black timber cladding, and a grass-sodded roof.

The indoor-outdoor, geothermal swimming pool, set at a soothing 38/39 degrees Celsius, is where guests spend most free time. Hang out at the outdoor pool bar, swim under the sunlit nights or spy the Northern Lights in this dramatic landscape.

WHAT WILL YOUR TRIP LOOK LIKE?

Heli-Skiing in Iceland is an unforgettable experience. Long descents over the North Atlantic Ocean are punctuated by never ending sunsets. Limitless terrain ignites new exploration in even the most seasoned of skiers. Long daylight hours allow us to choose the best time of day to ski given the weather and snow conditions. Runs average 3,000 vertical feet. Think huge couloirs and vast valleys that are just awaiting your tracks.

Early season and stormy periods equal powder skiing in a maritime climate, while long sunny days transition the snow into perfect corn skiing. Skiing, however, is just part of the Icelandic adventure. Sea kayaking in the fjords, riding the famed Icelandic horses, whale watching, puffin chasing, surfing and exploring the unique volcanic terrain of the world’s youngest land mass are also on tap. Add the fact that hot springs are around nearly every corner make Iceland a bucket-list destination.

    Thor (ADA room)

The ADA room is designed for those with mobile impairments and allows for easy flow of wheelchairs. It has a western view toward the lake.

    Snorri & Guðrún (Mirror Rooms)

The mirror rooms are located in old Deplar Farm. Akin to other rooms in old Deplar, they honor traditional Icelandic farmhouses, yet no detail is spared. Snorri has views to the east and south, while Guðrún has windows facing south and west.

    Flóki

Flóki is located in the attic of the old Deplar Farm. One of our largest rooms and full of character, it’s arguably the nicest, with a living area, windows on three sides, and slanted ceilings.

    Odin

Odin is a more intimate attic room with slanted ceilings and elevated design. It has a great northern view towards both the lake and river.

Frigg, Auður, Freyja and Skaði (Gallery Rooms)

The gallery rooms are four rooms located on the top main floor, between the bar and dining area. They feature high ceilings, balconies, and a mezzanine loft with a double bed and hammock. The rooms face both southeast, with dramatic mountain views (Frigg & Auður), and northwest, with lake and river views (Freyja & Skaði).

    Gunnar & Gísli (Spa Rooms)

The spa rooms are two rooms located below the main floor, between the guide room and spa. Expect a cozy, countryside feel with dramatic, eastern-facing mountain views.

    Álfahóll (Bunk)

The bunk room is a unique feature at Deplar. The Deplar bunk has four twin size beds (a 5th can be added), a small living area, private deck, and a double en-suite. Perfect for kids who want to have a tricked-out Icelandic slumber party.
