Chalet Doss
Chalet Doss has been welcoming and warming travellers through its doors for over 400 years. This utterly charming chalet is located in the heart of the Parco Adamello Brenta national park, a unique UNESCO-protected area, revered for its magical pink mountain peaks. Renovated in 2020, today Chalet Doss is now your perfect base for exploring the skiing of Madonna di Campigilio.
The chalet is arranged across four floors and offers nine bedrooms. At the heart of the chalet is the living room where a vast fireplace creates a focus point to gather round and enjoy drinks and cakes after your days skiing. The long dining table invites you to revel in grand evening dinner parties whilst the fireplace crackles away in the background.
Inter-connected to the main room is the kitchen decked out with bespoke granite worktops, a black Smeg oven and prosecco fridge. There are two traditional tables for breakfasts and kid’s meals in the cosy corners. The kitchen looks out over a terrace with the meadows and river beneath – an idyllic scene!
The bedrooms are spread across three floors and offer privacy and space for several families or a large group. All bedrooms feature en-suite facilities apart from the children’s bunk room which shares a bathroom with the master suite. Six of the double bedrooms can also be arranged with twin beds, so there is great flexibility for different groups or several families to holiday together.
There is a sauna and Jacuzzi wellness area downstairs with a needle shower and separate room with family bath alongside. For additional entertainment, there is a games room with pool table and a separate cinema room to keep kids entertained alongside a PS5 gaming console. Outside in the garden is a wood-fired hot-tub with built in hydro massage that overlooks the river and forest in complete privacy.
There is also a covered garage across from the chalet, and a ski room with heated boot warmers. For a grand arrival, there is a heliport that can be used by guests within 1 km of the property.
Chalet Doss is located a 7-minute drive from the Madonna di Campiglio ski resort that offers 156km of perfectly maintained slopes along with 61 modern lifts. A short drive down the valley the ski resort of Pinzolo offers yet more slopes to explore alongside shops, restaurants, ice rinks and in 2022 a world class spa has opened here as well, allowing you to unwind in great comfort.
The nearest ski lift to Chalet Doss is “Colarin” and this rarely used yet speedy bubble lift connects the two ski areas of Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo. The complimentary driver service can take you into the bustling resort centres of Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo, both less than 10 minutes away from the chalet.
The chalet is tucked away through a kilometre of narrow road on the edge of the village, with just a couple of friendly neighbours located before the chalet. The chalet has uninterrupted private views of the mountain forest, meadows and River Sarka rushing below. For those who prefer hiking to skiing, multiple hiking trails pass by the chalet and a rifugio can be reached in just a 30 minute walk.
Andreas, the chalet owners’ brother, with be on hand throughout your stay to organise every moment of your holiday. Ski & snowboard equipment can be pre-ordered, along with lift passes, whilst restaurants and activities can be booked, and tips given on the best slopes or bars to discover.
Though the chalet has 9 bedrooms, it does work equally well for small groups or even just one family. The design of the chalet means that a whole floor of rooms can be closed off and the main room is very cosy in the evenings with the fire roaring away.
Chalet Doss is available on a self-catered basis and includes a midweek clean and shuttle service to the local ski slopes. The price is based on sole use of the chalet for up to 16 people, though on request the chalet can accommodate up to 23.
